Sunflower Series: From Beauty to Decay

The featured painting of a large sunflower in the decaying process resembles the flames of a dying ember. I planted sunflower seeds following my mother's death — I was traumatised by the decay that can occur in the human body as I watched my mother deteriorate before our very eyes, having been diagnosed with Lewy Body Disease.

Nature is kinder; the decay can be quick but also beautiful.

I documented the decay of the sunflowers on my iPhone. The featured painting is in a private collection in Lithuania.
